GETTING STARTED

Getting to know Nesstar WebView

Requirements
Browsers
Nesstar WebView is optimised to operate with the latest stable versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

Maps
Nesstar supports a number of different mapping systems. Depending on the mapping system used by the host organisation, you may need to install the appropriate plug-in before you can view a map associated with a study or cube. Examples of plug-ins are Sun's Java or Adobe's SVG. If the correct plug-in is not available you may be asked to install the appropriate software when trying to access a map. If this happens please respond 'Yes' and wait until the plug-in has loaded and installed.

Note: If a map does not load and you are not asked whether you want to install the Java plug-in, you may need to install the plug-in manually. The appropriate software can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/getjava.

Screen Layout
Nesstar WebView has two frames. The left frame contains a search facility and a hierarchical browse list of resources, e.g. datasets, tables and reports. The right frame displays the item selected from the browse list, and is also used when exploring and analysing data and metadata.

There are two tabs above the right frame: Description and Tabulation. Click on a tab to make it active.

tabs
  • An active tab has a blue background and white text
  • An inactive tab has a grey background and black text

If a dataset is opened, an 'Analysis' tab becomes available as shown below:

Note that for tabular datasets, the Analysis tab is never available.
