A new Economic Update is is now available, with all the latest economic and Labour Market data for the county.
Some key points from this year’s analysis:
- Employment rates – are lower in all districts and boroughs of East Sussex than the national and regional averages.
- Active businesses – there were 23,670 in 2023 down from 24,015 in 2022. However, there were more business starts (2,145) than business closures (2,095).
- Median monthly earnings – lower than national and regional averages.
- Unemployed UC/JSA claimant numbers are 2.9% lower than in September 2024
- GVA – The economy of East Sussex generated £11.6 billion in 2023, or £20,838 per head (UK £36,632 per head).
